Again??

So, Ms. Paris Hilton gets 45 days for two, count 'em, TWO DUI's. She spends three days in jail, and the Sheriff's Dept. figures she has spent enough time in jail, so they let her go. Poor thing is then dragged, kicking and screaming, back to court, where the judge then says she will serve the full sentence of 45 days. Now she says she will serve the time, but it is the hardest thing she has ever done. Boo Fuckin' Hoo!!!

Now then, to even grimmer news. The wife of a preacher from Selmer, Tennessee, shoots her husband in his sleep. Hmmm, that must be a life sentence at least. Oh, but my fair minions, it is not! This woman kills her husband in his sleep, and runs. They found her some 400 miles away two or three days later. She confesses to the killing of her husband. She was trying to hide the fact that they were in terrible debt because she was caught up in one of those "Nigerian Money Scams". You know the one...you send money to hopefully get millions in return. You need to be a third-grade drop out to fall for this shit.

So, to make a long story longer, she hires one of the Fareses. These guys are known locally as the most crooked lawyers in our area. Some of them are actually judges here, also! Convienent, no? Anyway, this murderer gets off with just three years. With the time already served, she will only put up about three more months, and she will be free. She is already fighting to get her children back!???

What do these two women have in common? They would seem to be worlds apart. But they aren't. Both are so guilty that it is disgusting. But they both got off with nothing. Where does it end? What CAN I get away with before I am locked up? If the preacher's wife was murdered by the preacher, he would have gotten two life sentences! Cut and dried, no sympathy. Ok, what about a DUI? Well, around here, it carries a $1,000 fine the first time, and about four weekends in jail. A second DUI? A fine of $1,500 or more, at the discretion of the presiding judge, a suspended license(one year), and you CAN draw six months in jail, although it is rare to do so...they want you working to pay off the fine. Third DUI? That moves you up to the "Felony" category, and you WILL go to jail, sometimes for a year or more. Lose your licensefor good, and I don't even want to know what the fine is!

Long story short, when will people be held accountable for their crimes? When they don't have money to pay shyster lawyers, that's when! Why is it that the person who murders is the "victim"?  Do you want to know why there are more blacks in prison than whites? Because a lot of whites can afford attorneys to keep them out of jail. Have you ever been in front of a judge with only a public defender? I have. The words "Man, am I fucked" take on a whole new meaning! Most public defenders are afraid of the judges they go up against. So, they tend to not argue the finer points of a case like a $500 an hour attorney would. The whole justice system is out of whack, and needs to be fixed. Things are just wrong at this time....just wrong!
