Colder Than A Witch's Heart

Well, it looks like winter has us firmly in it's grasp. No snow or anything, but the daytime temps are only in the mid-thirties. It seems weird that we had all of our windows open while most of the country was locked in ice and snow just a couple of weeks ago!

Not much going on here just now. It is the start of crappie season. For those of you who don't know, "crappie" (pronounced 'croppie') are a rather large panfish, sort of like perch. They can get as big as three to four pounds. I used to love going crappie fishing this time of year. I was an avid bass fisherman all summer, and the crappie season brought a welcome relief for "cabin fever" in the middle of winter.

I haven't gone fishing in a few years now. Come to think of it, I haven't done much of the things that used to be fun to me lately. Failing health and a general depression have contributed to my lack of enthusiasim for anything. Oh well, when life gives you lemons, throw them at the assholes that are buggin' you!

For My Minions

Well, well, well, here we are again. I must apologize to my "minions" for not writing more here. But, let's face it, it IS winter, and finally cold outside! Up untill last week, we were having temps in the mid to high 70's!  Which brings a thought to mind...

I keep hearing about global warming being a problem; hell, we have all heard it. I used to think it was just a load of bs, but now I am not so sure. My wife and I talked the other day about the winters just since we have been married. We were married on July 4th, 1982. For that first winter together, her brother and I cut firewood for an entire month(October), in preperation for the cold weather. We weren't surprised when it snowed at least three different times that winter.

Since that time twenty five years ago, the winters have become milder and milder. We even have thunderstorms in winter. I actually heard thunder in December this year(last numerical year 2006). I think that maybe we should listen to the scientists that are warning us about global warming. As a matter of fact, the only ones to say that they are wrong are a handfull of scientists that work for the worst-polluting companies. Some have even questioned the credentials of those "scientists", or at least their motives. (I think I hear the sound of big business money in there!)

So, last Saturday I spent the entire day caring for both grandchildren at once. Yeah, I went to sleep early that night, I can guarantee you! Damn, they can be a handfull when you put them both together! But, what the hell, I know I had as much fun as they did! I wouldn't change them one little bit. Sadly, both of them have a bad cold, so that leads to two things...they were a little grouchy at times, and I now have their cold! What the hell, at least I know they are giving me something "extra" when they come over!

As I Mature

As I get older, I find that certain things hold true. Thanks go to Ms. Jean for this list, and for her undying friendship over these past three years. Thanks, Jean, we love ya!

#1) I have learned that you cannot make someone love you...you can only stalk them, and hope that they panic and give in.

#2) I have learned that no matter how much I care, some people are just assholes.

#3) I have learned that it takes YEARS to build up trust, and it takes only suspicion, not proof, to destroy it.

#4) I have also learned that you can get by on charm for about fifteen minutes. After that, you better have a big willy, or huge boobs!

#5) I have learned that you should never compare yourself to others; they are more fucked up than you think.

#6) I have learned that we are not responsible for what we do, unless we are celebrities.

#7) I have learned that no matter how much passion there is in a relationship that it will fade, and  there had better be a shitload of money to replace it!

#8) I have learned that 99% of the time when something in your house doesn't work, one of your kids broke it.

#9) And, lastly, I have learned that all the people that you care most about are taken from you too quickly, and the less important ones just never go away.

Send this to some friends, maybe something good will happen, if not, then tough shit!

The Big Day

Well, tomorrow is the big day for my youngest girl. Tomorrow she turns fifteen years old. We plan on taking her to her favorite restaurant for lunch. I know the people there will sing to her, and bring her a large array of helium balloons.

I guess after that, her and her mother will "shop", and, inevitably, I will be dragged along, having the horrible duty of "purse holding". And for every man who laughs at that, they only do so because they have experienced my pain! Doesn't it suck to stand around in women's clothing, looking like some kind of pervert? You have seen those guys...you know you have.

               Well, till next time, folks!

Nuclear Meltdown!

Well, I am finally back! My computer decided to have a meltdown last week, and I have struggled to repair all of the damage! Shit, I have heard that to err is human, but to really fuck up, get a computer! This held true last week, for sure.

Conversely, I can't put ALL of the blame on the "machine". I have had no formal training for computers, so I have had to learn on my own. It seems that re-booting a system from a catastrophic, and possibly cascading failure, is something I need more practice with! Oh well, I am back, and my pc runs like lightning. And everything works! (finally).

Not much else has been happening. One of my dear friends was injured in a fall down a flight of steps. I hope she is better. I would hate to lose her. By the way, why do they call them a "flight" of stairs? If one falls down them, flight is the farthest thing from what one is doing! Sorry, but that one just slipped out! Just overlook my sick ass humor. Oh, wait! That is precisely WHY you come here! Be cool folks, and I will be back with something later. Oh, my youngest daughter's birthday is this Sunday...she will be 15 years old. Damn, where does the time go? Two days after that(Tuesday) my grandson will be three years old!

The Grandkids are Back!!

Well, I guess I should mention that the "kids" are back home. They got in around midnight this past Saturday night. I knew when the phone rang at midnight exactly who was calling. It was my oldest daughter telling me she was home. She knows I worry when they are on the road.(Besides, anyone who knows me would NEVER DARE call me at midnight!!LOL)

I have since spent time with both grandchildren. Little Vinnie will be three years old in January. He loves going to Mexico to ride "burros" as he calls them. My daughter and her husband bought a small burro last year for him to ride at home. And ride it he does! He even tries to use his dad's latigo(special rope) to try and rope the little thing! This child will be famous on the rodeo circuit one day.

The strange thing is that no one has pushed him in that direction. The boy just seemed to know things that he was never taught. Somehow, he knows what a latigo is for, and how to use it. Make no mistake, I am no cowboy. I prefer my horses to be iron. I am not partial to animals at all. I HAVE ridden horses before, and I can't see the attraction. Too slow, and too much bouncin'!!! I'll take a Harley any day!
